Highland to Big Bear

Saturdays ride turned into a Sunday ride but it was all good. I had told myself no matter what i was staying over night in the mountain. The plan was to get about 6-8 hours of pedaling in and set up camp at Southfork campground.
I started around 5a.m.. I wanted to beat the heat and get to elevation as soon as possible. An hour into my ride my pedal feels alil funny so i stop check it out and the bearings are shot. FnDamn!! I was not gonna stop here. I needed to get out and this is minor i can push on. Learning experience, A spare set of crankbrothers bearing will be added to my list. Took me about two hours to get to Loc Leven and about an hour-fiften to get to the store in Angelus Oaks. Called the wifey to check in before i loose cell phone service before I head to Seven Oaks before the climb up Clarks Rd(1n54) to Big Bear. It was starting to warm up early so when i got to Seven Oaksit was time for a short break

and to filter some water before i begin the grind to Big Bear. Once in Big Bear I took 1e01 (pineknot trail) to the shop. Dereck hooked me up and the pedal issue was resolved. Now it's time for food. Fish taco's and two beers later and had decided that i was going to stay up here in Big Bear. I found a spot at Pineknott campground. i got 6-hours in today and i haven't rode sincce last Monday, so what do i expect from my body? It wants to chill.
That night the moon and stars were amazing. As i layed there looking up from my sleeping bag all i could think is it doesn't get any better than this.
I woke up around 2a.m. got packed headed to 7eleven for a coffee and headed down hwy 18. once i got to Snow Valley it was ptetty much down hill from there. i think it took me 2-1/2 hours to get home. I can't wait to do this again. my gear keeps geting lighter and lighter as i widel out the things i just don't need. i think next time i'm gonna try to figure out how to bring my fishing pole and the means to cook. not just boil water.
